I am known as Arwen (my publicly chosen father-name), Undomiel (my privately given mother-name), Elelome - translated Evenstar (given to me by my grandmother, Galadriel who said that my beauty was the likeness of the most beautiful among Elves and Men).

I was born early in the Third Age of Middle-Earth, the last child of Elrond and the Lady Celebrian. I lived in Rivendell for much of my life. An ancient place, it's splendor receded with each leaf fall.

It was said our kind would soon sail into the distant eternity of the Undying Lands. I resisted this with all my heart for though I long acknowledged the fact that the light was waning, and that mine was a solitary life, there was one who held me back. My father decreed we could not wed until he had taken his rightful place in Gondor. Thus, I awaited the return of the King - my love - Aragorn.

I remembered the happiness we felt on that long ago Midsummers Night. I gave him the Evenstar as a token of my love and to protect him.

Everywhere our world was changing. I felt it in the winds and the stars whispered their prophecies by night. Whispers of strange and terrible deeds were flying across the lands of Rohan and Gondor. I would whisper the blessings of the Evenstar, for those were very dark times indeed.

I waited for what seemed an eternity until the news arrived. The Ring was destroyed, Sauron was finally vanquished, and Aragorn would be King of Gondor!

We were wed in Minas Tirith on the Day of Midsummer and I, The Nightstar of my people would be the last Elvish maid to leave my race and wed with Man. And as my story was retold, I would capture the hearts and souls of Elves and Men.

Through the long, happy years, I would dare to forget I would lose my king to a mortal’s fate.

And that I would, someday, die of grief.

The costumes for Arwen and Aragorn were inspired by the "Coronation" or "Wedding" Scene from the final film in the Lord of The Rings trilogy.

LOTR - The Return Of The King

Great care was taken to create their costumes in the style and design from the film.

- Arwen's Gown Is In Two Parts -

The OverGown/Jumper is constructed from celadon green fabric chosen because it drapes beautifully and has a sheen similar to the original silk velvet. There are three main pieces to the Over Gown. The front hangs as one piece from the neck band and there are two pieces in the back and a godet which creates the train. The jumper is attached onto a shaped band of ivory and silver trim. The bottom of this band is edged with a very fine, ivory cording and tiny glass pearls . The band fits on the shoulders and was designed to allow the beaded under band to be seen.

The Underdress is mounted on a wide shaped band at the neck. The underdress bodice and upper sleeves are lace. They have been beaded with tiny glass "pearl" beads and artist created iridescent sequins which are no larger than the head of a pin. The underskirt, which acts as a type of slip, is English netting which has been edged with delicate lace. The full lower sleeves are two layers, one of green jumper fabric and an English netting under layer. They are very long and have been draped over her forearms. Glittery beaded celadon slippers and ivory lace panties complete her costume.

Arwen wears a wonderfully elaborate “Butterfly” crown, hand woven of silver wire with draping swags of iridescent clear beads, green beads and glitter drops. The crown is actually two parts. The front with the two smaller wings over her temples and the double wings at the back. The two are joined at the sides. Parts of the butterfly design have been painted to simulate the enamel of the original It has a vein like quality, and the beads add a marvelous sense of graceful movement. It is truly a crown fit for an Elven Queen.

Aragorn's costume begins with his tight fitting black breeches and black leather riding boots. He wears a long sleeved red tunic and a red lined grey skirt which is split in the front and back. His "maille" shirt and over skirt comprise the next layer. His mantle of dark blue velvet is lined in gold satin. The front and neck edges have been delicately stitched in silver and glittered to resemble the silver cording and embroidery of the original. His armor was carefully replicated using molded leather. Many individual pieces were joined to create the layered breast plate, shoulder plates and vambraces. His black leather boots are also protected with armor greaves. His leather scabbard contains the sword "Narsil" reforged as "Anduril." This is an authentic miniature sword and is an exact replica in every respect. Aragorn's crown was created from many pieces of brass and silver metal carefully shaped and embossed to resemble the original. It is lined in flesh toned leather to protect his face. He wears the ring known as the Ring of Barahir. It is set with a green crystal and represents two snake's heads on the top. Their bodies form the ring.
