Mayrhofen Revisited - Yacup's Tale Continued

She waits in the quiet dark, head tilted to catch the first sound of his approach. Will he come? Her heart will break if he does not. It will surely break when their time ends. And end it must. Upon discovering her love for the son of Crown Prince Rupert, the Faerie Queen had recounted the story of Givan, the mother Galiel had never known. A spell cast in anger, two loves torn apart and an endless circle of anguish bequeathed to a daughter and her new love.
Oh, Alexander! How can I bear to see the look in your eyes when you discover the truth? Your father, lost his beloved Marissa because of my mother.
A shape appears through the mist. Before Galiel can question this unexpected arrival, the Faerie Queen raises a delicate hand and commands silence with a glance. She speaks softly, "It is certain I can not alter your destined path little one, though I caution you. To enter between worlds is dangerous and may lead to great sorrow." Galiel merely nods and sighs, "I know what I must do." As the Faerie Queen drifts away, Galiel gazes into the star scattered canopy above the forest and shudders. He is near.

He quickens his pace. The path is dark, yet he needs no light to show him the way. He knows it by heart. His love awaits and he is desperate to see her. He must convince Galiel he cares not who she is. He must assure her of his complete acceptance. All his life he has heard whispers of his father's lost love and tales of evil Faeries and spiteful spells. He knows not the truth of those stories. He only knows he must persuade Galiel to come with him. If she will not, then he will join her world.

In the quiet lavender moments before the first bird call will welcome the sun and while the dew still dances on the grass, the restless Faerie Queen awaits the news. Once, long ago, she could not undo a cruel deed. Now, events turn full circle and she wonders what choice will be made. Will two hearts join in spite of everything or will they break under the truth? As the dawn light melts the mist, she is joined by a rowan haired lady. Marissa no longer glistens with tears. Together they watch as two lovers walk hand in hand toward a terrace, gilded in sunlight.
And they smile.
