"Angelique's
petticoat was of gold cloth, then a second one of gold lace as
fine as filigree, with a pattern outlined in precious stones. Her cloth of gold bodice
was a genuine work of art of filigree gold interlaced with silks. A gold lace put a
sparkling froth around her bare shoulders, giving her flesh a pale shimmer,
a porcelain translucency. With the soft pink glow of her cheeks, her blackened
eyebrows and lashes, her wavy hair that reflected the same glints as her dress,
the startling transparency of her eyes, she saw herself in the mirror like a strange
idol made entirely of precious stuffs; gold, marble, emerald."
As described in Part Three -
The Corridors of the Louvre - in Angelique -
the first novel in the remarkable romantic series by Sergeanne Golon

The Costume - Her gown is fashioned in the silhouette typical of the first half of the 17th Century. The period of King Louis XIV. The lined over skirt and bodice are of a rich golden cloth which is shot with gold threads. The front points have been accented with gold foil trim, glass pearls and golden glass beads. The gold lace underskirt has been embroidered and accented with "emerald" glass crystals, pearls and tiny round golden beads. The photographs fail to show some of the details as well as the truly golden nature of the gown. Each side of the over skirt has been gathered and drawn up, caught with pearls, emerald and golden glass beads. A deep gold lace ruffle hangs from her modified "Pagoda" sleeves. A cap of the deeper gold fabric tops each sleeve and is trimmed with beads. Her neckline has been edged with gold lace and rosettes which create a modified ruff. The stomacher is the same pale gold as the underskirt, layered under gold net and threaded with gold silk ribbon and elaborately beaded with glass "pearls".
The Accessories - her hand painted fan with ornate gilded and beaded guard stick has a twisted, tasseled golden cord. She holds a delicate lace edged lawn handkerchief. Her jewelry was created from "pearl" glass beads, "emerald" glass crystals and drops. Golden lace rosettes and tiny glass beads are threaded through her upswept blonde hair. Lace trimmed ivory pantalettes, petticoat, ivory stockings and embellished gold shoes complete the costume.
Angelique's costume was completely hand sewn from original, artist designed patterns and is not removable.
Sydney as Angelique - has been completely repainted. She has soft emerald eyes, shadowed in soft mocha, feathered brows, beautifully shaded natural lips, a French manicure, new wig and carefully trimmed applied lashes.
